NSS is a tool that I hope will aid network administrators. It might be unclear as to how it would aid network admins, so here is a "real world" example...There is a network administrator who has just taken on the task of looking after a Mail server farm. This
server farm consists of about 200 machines, each running different operating systems with different versions of sendmail.
The network administrator has to switch all Mail servers running version 8.12.8 over to 8.12.10. Finding out which servers
are running sendmail-8.12.8 is made easy with Network String Scanner.
The result returned is hosts that are running sendmail-8.12.8 and the hosts that aren't. Of course, this is just a simple example of what NSS could be used for. Its uses are limited only by what you think you can apply it to.Screenshot 1Screenshot 2 |
